At long last, we have a draft of the Glendale HIA for you to review. Click on the link below to take a look, but first a couple caveats 🙂
- This is very much a working draft. The layout and appearance still need to be significantly spruced up, including adding photos and other graphics.
- Many of the citations and references still need to be added in, but rest assured, we do have evidence coming.
You can review the document here. Please submit any comments you have here. We’ll be accepting input for the next 2-3 weeks to allow time to incorporate everything and still meet our deadline for finishing the report. Thanks so much for your input, it’s truly appreciated!

While you’re waiting for the draft HIA to appear here, I thought I’d share a brief sample of some the preliminary findings and recommendations that we have so far. They are certainly not finalized, and there’s much that’s not included here, but it should at least give an idea of what’s coming in the report.

Myself, Gretchen Armijo, and Glendale Mayor Larry Harte had the good pleasure of presenting our Glendale HIA project to the bi-annual Colorado Physical Activity & Nutrition Program (COPAN) meeting on January 25th. We gave an overview of what HIAs are and some specifics on what’s happening in Glendale.
Have a look at our presentation and stay tuned for a draft report coming very soon!

The Glendale HIA team was at the 5th Annual Metro Mile at Glendale’s Infinity Park the other night. It was a gorgeous summer night for a fun family event, and we were able to chat with numerous Glendale residents and visitors about walking and biking in the community. We got lots of great input on important routes in the community and particular challenges that people face as they navigate Glendale on foot and bike.
Special thanks to the Glendale Chamber of Commerce for providing us a table at the event and all their support!

Our first public outreach for the HIA was a success! The HIA team was able to participate in Bike to Work Day on June 22nd, setting up a table at the Glendale station in Creekside Park along the Cherry Creek Trail, where we talked to around 60 people. We had a large aerial map of the community for people to draw on and tell us how they bike and walk around Glendale. We got some great information about good and bad intersections and routes that people are using. We also had a short survey that folks filled out, telling us a bit more about their biking and walking habits in Glendale.
A big thank you to the Glendale Whole Foods for allowing us to share a tent with them!
